Exploring My Artistic Journey: A Personal Diary

If this were a comic book series, the first one would the origin story. In one epically unfolding tale I could explain everything that led up to now and made me into the person I am today. You wouldn’t need any other information to help you decide whether you wanted to return to read future issues. But I’m just a regular person. And in a lot of ways, this is a lot like a diary (unless you write to me, then it will be like a letter from a pen pal). Although the primary focus here will be exploring different artistic methods and the way that I find to share my creations with the world, I think about a lot of other things so we’re probably going to think about that stuff, too.
As an artist, I mainly like drawing and printmaking but I love sculpting, too. During that second part of the pandemic when factories and suppliers were open again but I still couldn’t go back to work yet (I’ve worked in live events for over ten years, so my COVID break was probably a little longer than some other industries) I taught myself to make casts of my sculptures. I was very happy that I was able to learn, but the supplies cost a lot. So drawing and printmaking are more affordable for me and take up less space in my apartment so those are the mediums I use most.
I’ve wanted to start a blog for years, but I kept thinking that I should wait until something significant happened. The problem with that was that whenever something big happens there is a certain amount of chaos that goes with it. For me, heaping more stuff on top of chaos never goes well. So, here we are now. It’s just a regular Tuesday somewhere in America. And just like every other day, I’m glad you’re here.
